Cameroon : Community journalists gather for KCOA bio-agricultural workshop in CPF Bandjoun

Mbouo-Bandjoun, August 21, 2024.In an inspiring move towards sustainable agriculture, over 25 journalists from community radio stations across the national territory have come together for a workshop on the KCOA bio-agricultural project organized by the Centre Polyvalent de Formation (CPF) in Bandjoun from August 21 to 24th, 2024. This event kicked off on Tuesday and aims to equip participants with vital knowledge and skills in bio-agriculture.

Throughout the workshop, attendees are being immersed in innovative methods that prioritize the health of the soil and the environment. Key topics include the use of microorganisms to naturally fertilize the soil, the production of compost manure, and the critical importance of avoiding toxic fertilizers that can harm the ecosystem.

A central theme of the workshop emphasizes the philosophy that « let your food be your medicine. » This powerful reminder encourages participants to think beyond traditional fertilization methods, advocating for the development of soil health over mere chemical application.

As community radio journalists, these attendees play a crucial role in disseminating this important information back to their listeners, fostering a greater understanding of sustainable farming practices. The knowledge gained here is not just about agriculture; it’s about nurturing a healthier future for both the land and the people who rely on it.

Stay tuned for more updates from the KCOA bio-agricultural workshop, as we continue to follow the journey of these dedicated journalists committed to promoting sustainable agriculture across the nation.
